The Meadow railway roundhouse is part of the same complex as the workshop hall. Built after World War II, it was specifically designed for the maintenance of steam locomotives, while the workshop hall was intended for the maintenance of all other rolling stock.
A total of 19 similar roundhouses were built in France between 1944 and 1952. Most of these have been demolished, but some have been designated as historic monuments and are still awaiting a viable conversion projects. This is also true for this one. It still belongs to the SNCF, but the company lacks the resources to take action.
The roundhouse is thus gradually disappearing, enveloped by nature and forgotten by people. Soon, only concrete ruins lost in the forest will remain as a memory of it, like a forgotten temple to the glory of the train.
